In an extended study, the Institute for Materials Engineering and Plastics Processing at the University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil used various tests to investigate how the surface of additively manufactured components can be improved using SURFAST.
In an extended study by the Institute for Materials Technology and Plastics Processing at the Rapperswil University of Applied Sciences, various tests were carried out on how the surface of additively manufactured components can be improved using SURFAST.
Different additives as well as mixtures of these were taken into account.
The results show that the original quality of the surfaces of 3D printed components can be processed with SURFAST technology in such a way that the surface roughness comes to less than Ra 2.0 in one work step. This can serve as a starting point for further polishing of the surface, or when using additive mixtures to produce optically pleasing surfaces.
