Urma AG shows the successful implementation of additive manufacturing for an heat exchanger. By means of “design for additive” a complex assembly of parts with several function are integrated into a single part, showing improved heat transfer behaviour and low pressure drop. The applied copper alloy contributes with its high heat conductivity. Modern multi-laser technology allows economic realisation of serial parts while maintaining variety and flexibility. The design freedom reveals further potential for optimisation in terms of mechanical integrity, heat transfer and flow behaviour.
