Concept Laser (GE Additive)

GE Additive's Concept Laser and its LaserCusing technology: powder bed-based laser melting of metals opens up new freedoms in component configuration and also enables the tool-free, economical production of highly complex components in relatively small batch sizes.

Founded in 2000 by Frank Herzog, Concept Laser GmbH is one of the world's leading suppliers of machine and system technology for 3D printing of metal components. Since December 2016, Concept Laser has been part of GE Additive, a division of the world's leading digital industrial company General Electric (GE).  GE Additive was founded in 2016 and acquired, among other things, 75% of Concept Laser's company shares.

The technology driver is Concept Laser's patented LaserCUSING® process. The powder bed-based laser melting of metals opens up new freedom in the shaping of components and allows the tool-free, economical production of highly complex components in smaller batch sizes. The company's customers come from a wide range of industries, including medical and dental technology, the aerospace industry, tool and mold making, the automotive industry, and the watch and jewelry industry. Concept Laser's 3D metal printers process powder materials including stainless steel and hot-work steels, aluminum and titanium alloys, and - for jewelry manufacturing - precious metals.

GE Additive also offers materials and extensive development consulting for a wide range of industries, including Concept Laser. GE Additive is single-mindedly pursuing the further development and transformation of the industrial sector with software-defined equipment as well as networked, adaptable and forward-looking solutions.
